Beef and Beer to Benefit Deputy Chief Callahan's Cancer Battle
By Firefighter Michelle Major
February 9, 2019

Deputy Chief Jim Callahan was initially diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer in March of 2015. After having his right kidney removed, Jim quickly healed and returned to serving the community. Routine scans seemed to show that he was cancer-free until November 2018. It was then discovered that the cancer had returned and had metastasized to the lymph nodes in the area where the kidney used to be. In December 2018, Jim began receiving immunotherapy, the latest approach to cancer treatment available. He continues to support the fire company and run emergency calls while going through treatment.

You can support this cause by attending the Beef and Beer benefit on March 30th. We are also accepting sponsors and donations towards the event.
